AFTER RENTING

How can I get a copy of my receipt or rental agreement from my recent rental?
Please gather the following information:

  • spelling of full name of renter
  • mailing address and/or fax number where you want receipt to be sent
  • dates of rental
  • pick-up and return locations of rental
  • either credit card number used to secure reservation, the rental agreement number, or the reservation confirmation number.

Then call 27 21 551 7390/82 and quote these details to request a copy of your rental agreement/receipt to be faxed or mailed to you.Your receipt will be faxed or mailed to you in 24 hours. Alternatively you may email info@dailycarhire.co.za

May I use a debit or prepaid card.
No. A credit card deposit is required when you rent a car because it demonstrates that you have a line of credit to cover the rental. A prepaid or debit card is tied to your personal bank account and does not represent a line of credit. But you may use your prepaid or debit card when you return and pay for your vehicle.

What should I do if I have problems with my car?
Before you start driving, take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the vehicle's equipment and operation, including heat and A/C, radio, lights, windshield wipers, spare tire, seat belts and door locks, and gas tank access. Getting distracted trying to figure out those things while driving can be dangerous. Don’t wait until the fuel warning light goes on to think about buying petrol, especially if you don’t know how far it is between petrol stations. If, in the unlikely event that your car malfunctions on a major thoroughfare, lock the doors, turn on the hazard lights and, if you have a cell phone, call the police 10111. 24-hour roadside assistance at 082 3311 606.. Don’t leave your vehicle. If, in the unlikely event that an emergency light illuminates on your control panel, don’t ignore it. Use good judgment about whether you can get back to our location safely and don’t hesitate to call our 24-hour roadside assistance on 082 3311 606.

WHILE I'M RENTING

What should I do if I'm involved in an accident?
First, contact the police to complete an accident report, then immediately contact the DCH office on 021 5517390/82

What happens if I don’t return my car on the designated return date?
If the car isn’t returned on or before the due date, we will obtain additional card holder authorizations to cover expected rental charges.It is your responsibilty to notify the office that you intend to extend the period of your hire.

Do you rent trailers?
Yes we do. We charge a rate of R120.00 per trailer rental. We also rent cell phones at R 100.00 per rental.

If I rent, may another person drive?
Additional drivers are allowed at most locations, though they must meet the minimum age requirements, present a valid driver's license and major credit card in their name, and have an incident -free driving record. There is a surcharge for additional drivers. The cost of a daily surcharge for additional drivers is R100.00.

Do you offer insurance replacement while the car I own is being serviced?
Yes, and we offer! The next time your personal car is in the shop or just out of service, think of us! We’ll help manage all your insurance replacement rental needs — simply advise your insurance company, and we’ll handle everything from free pick-up service, to direct billing to insurance companies, to offering the widest variety of vehicles out there. Vehicle replacement is easy with our specialized services:

What insurance do you offer while I'm renting?
The cost of insurance is covered in your rental fee.

These plans are provided by independent insurance companies, and are subject to the provisions, limitations and exclusions contained in the actual policies, which are available for review upon request.

Can you confirm availability of additional accessories?
If your reservation is made 48 hours prior to pick up, we guarantee availability of baby seats. Within 48 hours of pick up .Your request will be held with your reservation, but the rental is made on a first-come, first-served basis so availability is not guaranteed.

For all other additional accessories, while we make every effort to honor your requests, we cannot guarantee them at the time of reservation.

What if I have traffic violations?
We will check renters' and additional drivers' licenses to ensure that they are valid. If the driving history reveals any of the following issues, we are unable to rent:

  • invalid, suspended or revoked license
  • one or more convictions for reckless driving within 36 months
  • failure to report/leave scene of accident within 36 months
  • possession of stolen vehicle or use of a vehicle in a crime
  • expired license
  • three or more convictions for moving violations within 24 months (including seatbelt violations)
  • three or more accidents within 36 months

What kind of credentials do I need?
A driver must present a major credit card and valid driver's license. Both must be in the driver's name.

All forms of identification must include a name and address and must match the name and address on the renter's driver's license.

For customers renting at an airport location, the following are acceptable forms of identification:

  • A round trip airline ticket, e-ticket, or travel itinerary to or from the airport of rental, disclosing a return date and showing the renter's name
  • A valid passport
  • A current copy (within the last 60 days) of the customer's cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill

For customers renting at an off-airport location, the following are acceptable forms of identification:

  • A valid passport
  • A current copy (within the last 60 days) of the customer's cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill

More credentials may also be required. See the terms and conditions on your confirmation page/e-mail for information on your specific pick-up location.

Do you require a deposit to rent a vehicle?
Yes. The vary in price depending on the class of vehicle.

Credit Card Rules
It's perfectly fine if you choose not to return the car on or before your scheduled return date, but we will place up to three additional holds on your card (depending on how long you keep the car) to cover expected rental charges. Upon your return of the car, all holds will be released, and the actual cost of the rental will be charged. Please note that your bank may take up to two weeks to post the released credit hold to your card.

Can I rent a car to take a driving test?
No, due to potential liability you must have a valid driver's license.

May I use a rented car to tow?
No.
