1. The contract
Refers to a signed and annexed contract entered into between the lessee and Daily Car Hire (hereinafter referred to as “DCH”)
- Vehicles are hired only against signed contracts which must be accompanied by all relevant documentation.

- Drivers license
- International drivers license
- Copy of credit card
- Name and address of local residence
- Proof of international address
- Name and contact details of person not living with you
- Cell phone, landline and email contact details

- Each aspect of the contract has to be signed by both parties and annexed to ensure that the document constitutes a full and binding contract.

- Should any contract details change it is the lessee’s responsibility to immediately inform DCH of these changes.

2. Conditions of Hire
- A compulsory deposit of R2000.00 is payable on vehicle hire. This amount is held against any risks the company DCH might incur e.g., non payment, absconded driver, damages discovered after return of the vehicle, unpaid fines etc. This deposit is refunded after the vehicle has been returned and thoroughly checked for any damages. In the case of long term hire contracts, vehicles are collected the day before departure and thoroughly checked to facilitate the return of the deposit to the lessee prior to leaving South Africa. A shuttle is arranged for the day of departure at a cost of R200.00.

- All rental fees are payable on the anniversary date of the rental at any of the administrative offices or directly into the banking account. ( see banking details) A receipt is provided for all payments.

- A vehicle collection or delivery fee of R100.00 is payable.
|
- A contract fee of R20.00 is payable on all contracts.
|
- All vehicles are delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank failing which a refueling fee of R100.00 will be levied and added to the cost of the fuel. All vehicles take 95 or 97 unleaded fuel.

- Should you incur a traffic fine whilst the vehicle is on hire to you, a fine levy fee of R200.00 is payable on all traffic fines incurred.

- Should there be a month long rental coupled with daily rental, the daily rate will apply unless otherwise agreed between the parties.

- Included in the hire contract is the following:
- Standard Collision and Damage i.e. damages under the value of R2000.00
- 100 free kilometers per day - Kilometers can be accumulated and used retrospectively
- Kilometers exceeded over the entire contract period are charged at R2.00 per km

- Vehicles are serviced on a regular basis, should a service fall within a hire period a replacement vehicle will be provided. We urge your cooperation on making the vehicle available in order that vehicles driven by you are always in a good condition. Any mechanical or other problems must be reported immediately in order that the DCH can attend to the problem promptly.

- All vehicles are delivered with a full tank of petrol and must be returned with a full tank failing which a refueling charge will be levied against the contract i.e. R100 + the cost of fuel.

- Should a booking be made and the lessee does not collect a “no show fee” of R200 .00 is levied against the contract.

3. Insurance
- Insurance cover does not apply outside of the Republic of South Africa. Contracts signed are only valid for the Western Cape, should the vehicles be traveling outside of this jurisdiction, please inform DCH prior.

- There is a specific exclusion for any damages incurred whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs (unless administered for medical reasons by a member of the medical profession and within reasonable dosage)

- Each additional driver must be specified to ensure that all drivers are fully insured. Should there be an accident and the regular driver was not noted the lessee might be penalized for non disclosure.

- It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is securely locked and stored at all times. This is a compliance requirement from insurance.

- Each insurance claim attracts a compulsory excess. Excess is charged as follows:

R4000.00 for accident
- R7000.00 for theft
*Any damage below the value of R2000.00 is fully covered by the standard insurance and is included in the cost of the vehicle hire.
Please note this does not include the replacement of coded keys and alarm or immobilizer units.

- Young drivers i.e. drivers who have had their license for less than a period of 24 months are considered a risk due to the age of the license. In this case an extra charge of R250.00 per month is applicable. Should there be a mature driver and a young driver sharing the vehicle the amount of R250.00 per month still applies.

4. Specific Condition
If during the course of the contract, any license is endorsed, suspended or cancelled for whatever reason, or if the driver has been charged or convicted of negligent, reckless or improper driving the company must be informed in writing. You will be required to immediately return the vehicle and the contract will be cancelled.
5. Road Side Assistance and Replacement Vehicles
All vehicles come with a 24 hour road side assistance benefit; this includes the towing of the vehicle to a fitment or service centre. DCH also provides a replacement vehicle on long and short term contracts. A call out fee of R250.00 is payable for call outs that are due to the drivers negligence eg lights left on.
* These contractual terms applies to long term vehicle hire only. Minimum hire period 30 days.
